The Ecology Club

The outdoor project

Our Ecology Group combines the wonders of nature with scientific discovery, providing you with a hands-on experience in the great outdoors. We focus on immersive, experiential learning through a series of engaging study units that explore the ecosystems around us.

  • Pond Study – One of our recent units focused on pond ecosystems, where participants enjoyed pond dipping and discovered the fascinating world of vertebrates and invertebrates. We also explored the delicate balance of pond life and the roles these creatures play in the ecosystem.
  • Grass Sweeping – In another unit, we ventured into the grasses, using sweeping techniques to capture and identify a wide variety of invertebrates. This hands-on activity helped us better understand the diversity and importance of these species in grassland ecosystems.

What We Do:

  • Units of Study – Each block, we dive deep into different ecological topics, exploring how various species and habitats interact within the natural world.
  • Experiential Learning – We believe in learning by doing. Every session involves outdoor experiments and activities that bring scientific concepts to life, helping participants make real-world connections to their studies.
  • Nature and Science Combined – From hands-on experiments to careful observation, we blend nature with science, providing a dynamic and engaging way to learn about the environment.

Join us in the field as we uncover the hidden ecosystems that thrive in Sheffield, and expand your understanding of the natural world through fun and interactive learning!

Our next unit will be confirmed soon.
